Three more men have fallen victims to the fearful fire at the Grange Pit, being the whole of the four men injured. Inquests were held on Friday and Saturday last, at the Crown Inn, Dawley, and at the Queen’s head, Lawley Bank. Mr. Wynne, Government inspector of mines, attended, and, having caused plans of the workings to be prepared, required the attendance of the several juries at the latter place, and proceeded to examine witnesses as to the state of the mines, the means of ventilation, &c. At the close of the investigation, a verdict of “Accidental death, occasioned by the explosion of fire-damp,” was recorded. |
