ACCIDENT: On Monday morning, as a married man named Briscoe was working at the Halesfield colliery, a lump of coal dropped on his hand, the club surgeon (Dr. Webb) being obliged to amputate the thumb. |
HILL'S LANE PIT: The men working at Hill's Lane Claypit have received a fortnight's notice, which expires to-day. If this pit, of which Mr. M. Owen is manager, be closed, several hands will be thrown out of employment. |
